This song Losing My Religion is about losing man made religion/tradition and having a relationship/true religion with God. Having tradition/man made religion is man's efforts to observe rituals/laws/rules and a focus on self-performance and effort to be right with God. True Christianity is a relationship with God. God reaches broken/lost men and women who get to the end of the road and realize they can't help or save themselves, and he comes and saves them! We are saved only by God's grace and mercy by trusting in Jesus Christ to be our Savior. He adopts us and makes us a child and heir in his heavenly Kingdom! Jesus said that you must be born again to enter the Kingdom of God.
A relationship with God is where one has received salvation/new life in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and walks with God, knowing him intimately. Knowing God as father. Knowing/believing his love letter/story (the bible) is true.
